Neurotrophic Effects of Swimming and Crocin Consumption on the Rats with Obesity Induced by a High-fat Diet
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: Obesity is known as a multifactorial physical disorder. On the other hand, regular sport exercises and crocin consumption have beneficial effects on obesity. In this regard, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of eight weeks of swimming training with crocin consumption on neurotrophic factors in the heart tissue of obese rats. Methods: In this experimental study, 28 obese Sprague Dawley rats (24 g fat, 24 g protein and 41 g carbohydrates per 100 g) were selected randomly and divided in five groups of seven subjects, including: 1) control (receiving normal saline); (2) swimming training; (3) crocin consumption; and (4) swimming training with crocin consumption. Groups 2 and 4 performed swimming training for eight weeks, three sessions per week, and each session 30-60 minutes, and groups 3 and 4 daily received 25 mg / kg of crocin peritoneally. Results: Eight weeks of swimming training and swimming training with crocin consumption led to increased expression of BDNF in the heart tissue of obese rats (p≤0.05). Crocin consumption had a significant effect on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF) increase in the heart tissue of obese rats (p ≤0.05). There was no significant difference in BDNF and NGF gene expression levels in the heart tissue of rats in the swimming training with crocin consumption group compared to the crocin consumption group (p ≥0.05). Conclusion: According to the results, swimming training, swimming training along with crocin consumption, and crocin consumption have the same effects on the increase of BDNF in the heart tissue of obese rats. Also, crocin consumption has a significant effect on increased expression of NGF in the heart tissue of obese rats

Introduction: Diabetes is a metabolic disease, which is directly correlated with increased physical disabilities and muscle tissue damage. The present study aimed to investigate the anti-apoptotic effects of interval and continued training and crocin on diabetic rats. Methods: In this study, 49 adult rats aged eight weeks with diabetes inducaed by a high-fat di...

Introduction. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of high fat diet-induced obesity and interval and continuous exercise training on visceral fat SIRT1 and insulin resistance in male rats. Method. Forty male rats were divided into two groups: high-fat diet (HFD; n=32) and standard diet (C; n=8). After 10 weeks inducing obesity, eight rats from the HFD and C groups were sacrifi...
متن کاملThe effects of losartan on memory performance and leptin resistance induced by obesity and high-fat diet in adult male rats
Objective(s): Leptin is a hormone secreted by adipose tissue and is involved not only in the regulation of feeding and energy expenditure, but also its role in memory enhancement has been demonstrated as well. The partial transfer of leptin across the blood-brain barrier in obese individuals causes leptin resistance and prevents leptin reaching brain. On the other hand, studies have show...
متن کاملEffect of Moderate Swimming Exercise on Weight Gain in High Fat Diet Rats
Purpose: Obesity is one of the most common problems in the world. Imbalance between energy consumption and expenditure is a main factor in weight disorder. Exercise helps losing weight by increasing energy expenditure and modulation of the energy intake. The present study examined protective effects of daily moderate aerobic exercise on preventing weight gain in high fat diet rats. Materia...
متن کاملEffects of octreotide on hepatic glycogenesis in rats with high fat diet-induced obesity
Reduced hepatic glycogenesis is one of the most important causes of metabolic abnormalities in non‑alcoholic fatty liver disease. Octreotide, a somatostatin analogue, has been demonstrated to promote weight loss and improve metabolic disorders in mice with high fat diet (HFD)‑induced obesity. However, whether octreotide affects hepatic glycogenesis is unknown. The aim of the present study was t...
متن کاملP-51: Effects of Garlic on Sperm Parameters in Rats with High Fat Diet
Background: Obesity and raised body mass index (BMI) is a major risk factor for several diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, as well as gynecological problems. In recent years, some studies have associated the BMI with reproductive parameters in men, showing that increased BMI is related to poor semen quality, decreased sperm concentration, decreased and normal-motile sperm...
